Both multiple Juno award winners, Ron and JK have worked with the likes of Chantal Kreviazuk, Jacksoul, Ashley MacIsaac, Tomi Swick, Simon Wilcox, Divine Brown, James Bryan, Soul Decision, Matt Dusk, Wave, Justin Hines, Joydrop, Esthero, Nelly Furtado, Fefe Dobson and John Allan Cameron.

After spending several years touring as sideman, performing as session players, writing and developing their craft as producers, the production duo known as Year of The Monkey decided to create an album featuring some of their favorite artists.

After working together on various projects these two colleagues developed a friendship which included the mutual desire to explore music at a ambient and cinematic aesthetic. Collaborating with some of their favorite vocalists and lyricists, Year of the monkey quickly developed into an electro-acoustic sound with strong pop elements and a desire to explore the relationship between song-writing and production.

Both born under the Chinese astrology sign of the monkey, and having created the project during a 'monkey' year, it made sense to reference the genesis of the project in the title.

The soon to be released full length recording '68' features an array of gifted artists with whom collaboration has led to songs, full of vibe, ambiance, depth and immediacy.
